Dear Parent or Guardian:
The Sinton ISD Board of Trustees reviews the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) program on an annual basis. On April 20, 2026, the Board of Trustees approved the Sinton ISD Food Service Department to operate the Community Eligibility Provision program for the 2026-2027 school year. This decision is a one year commitment for SY 26-27 only and comes at an estimated cost of $96,003.52 to the District.
Therefore, we are pleased to inform you that for the 2026-2027 school year, free breakfast and free lunch will be provided for all Sinton ISD students.
Welder Elementary, Sinton Elementary, Smith Middle School and Sinton High School will be
implementing the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) under the National School Lunch and School Breakfast Programs for School Year 2026-2027. Schools qualifying to operate CEP serve breakfast and lunch to all children at no charge and eliminate the collection of meal applications for free, reduced-price, and paid student meals. This approach reduces burdens for both families and school administrators and helps ensure that students receive nutritious meals.
NOTE: It is important that we inform you that the 2026-2027 school year will be the last year for Sinton ISD to operate CEP under our current eligibility qualifications. Therefore, Sinton ISD anticipates returning to school meal application processing starting July 1, 2027 to prepare for the 2027-2028 school year. The projected student paid meal price for school year 2027-2028 is $3.25-$3.50 for a paid student breakfast and $4.25-$4.50 for a paid student lunch. School meal pricing is based on the USDA Paid Lunch Equity guidelines.

Sincerely,
Silke West
Sinton ISD Food Service Director
