SINTON, TEXAS, October 27, 2026 — The Sinton Independent School District Board of Trustees has named Dr. Marlon R. Waites Jr. as the lone finalist for Superintendent of Schools, marking an important step in the district's search for its next leader.

Dr. Waites currently serves as Deputy Superintendent of Lamar Consolidated Independent School District, where he provides leadership across academic programs, student services and district operations.

With more than 20 years of experience in public education, Dr. Waites brings a broad background in teaching, campus leadership and district administration. Throughout his career, he has served as a classroom teacher, assistant principal, principal, Director of Student Services, Area Superintendent, Chief Student Services Officer and Deputy Superintendent.

Dr. Waites earned a bachelor's degree in Architecture and a master's degree in Educational Administration from Prairie View A&M University. He also holds a doctorate in Theology from Trinity International Seminary.

The Board's selection follows a comprehensive search for a leader committed to academic excellence, student achievement, staff development and strong community relationships.

In accordance with Texas law, the Board will observe the required 21 day waiting period before taking final action on the superintendent's employment contract.
